Parish & Deanery Websites

Logan Deanery Website

JB's Web Services has been involved in the creation of a number of websites for organisations within the Queensland Catholic community - see Portfolio

Websites are a great asset to parishes in their efforts to reach out to the local community. The website can be used for:

  • improving communication to members of the local
    and wider community
  • broadening the parish's profile in the community
  • assisting the promotion of the parish's outreach
  • providing teaching and educational resources

Our company can build your parish a website that is simple to maintain and easy for visitors to navigate. To ensure the information contained on a website is of value to site visitors, the website must be regularly maintained. You may choose to have a website which you maintain yourselves, using a Content Management System, or to employ JB's Web Services to maintain it for you.

A simple parish website could contain the following:

  • Contact details of Pastor and parish staff
  • Mass times, including liturgical timetable for Christmas, Easter etc.
  • Information about the parish's patron
  • List of ministries, groups and activities active in the Parish
  • Useful forms - direct debit, baptism enquiry etc.
  • Sacramental information, i.e. weddings, baptisms, RCIA, sacramental program etc.
  • Parish history
  • Links

Pope Benedict XVI encourages parishes to embrace technology in their outreach to the community.

In his message for the Catholic Church's 2010 World Day for Social Communications, Pope Benedict XVI called on the ministry to use the latest technologies, such as websites and blogs, to preach the gospel and encourage a dialogue with their parishioners.

The theme of the World Day was "The Priest and Pastoral Ministry in a Digital World: New Media at the Service of the Word." In his message Pope Benedict told people that the church needs to use the latest technologies, especially if it wants to reach younger people.

The Vatican itself has already entered the digital age. In addition to its main Web site, the Vatican launched the Pope to You site, in which people can access a papal Facebook application, see the Vatican on YouTube, and even download the church's iPhone app.
